Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission-BTRC organized an exchange meeting on teleservice and cyber security in Barisal district administration conference room on Tuesday. In the meeting, the BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikdar presented an informative report on the progress of the country's overall telecommunication sector and cyber security. He urged everyone to pay attention to use the land-phone rather than being encaged in habit, stating that the cost of land-phone call per minute is only 10 paisa which is much lesser than the call charge in mobile phones.

Shyam Sundar Sikder said, “There is a land phone in the house, and there are mobile phones as well. But we don't go to the land-phones, instead we take a mobile phone for talking. We’re spending minimum 65 paisa and maximum 2 taka on mobile phone per minute. But if you talk on a land- hone, it costs only 10 paisa per minute. In fact we have become slaves to our habits. Due to these reasons, the number of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) customers have decreased. Many people are also surrendering (returning) their land phones. But everyone should pay attention to landlines.”
